Starting Your Own Makeup Blog | Things To Consider

Hello Beautiful People. This post is part of a larger series of guides that we hope will help anyone who is aspiring to start their own blog. First, much of what we will write about here will be focused towards a blog centered around cosmetics because that’s where our experience really lies. However, many pieces of this guide can also be applicable to other types of blogs in general! Second, we really don’t think there will be much in our guides that will be revolutionary in any sense. What we hope to do here is to just compile the knowledge we’ve gathered so far in our journey with Makeup FOMO and make it accessible to others.

Things to Consider:

How will you stand out?

A good first step before you hop into the journey of starting your own blog is to figure out what you can do to differentiate yourself from the crowd. Take a gander over at the Reader list, search under the tag of Makeup or Cosmetics. What you will see is an ocean of beauty and makeup blogs. Now ask yourself this question: How will you stand out? This can be a tough question to answer right away, and it honestly may not be something you can answer until you’re in the swing of things! But we believe this is key to have in the back of your mind as you create your blog. What are you going to do that’s different, unique, or better, than what others are doing?

What’s your end goal?

What are you hoping to get out of creating a blog? A big audience? Money? Hoping to blog as a full-time job? Fun side project? Or all of the above! Whatever your goal is, we believe it’s key to identify it early on. Reason being that depending on what your end goal is, the path you take with your blog can be drastically different. And it should be! If your goal is to grow a large audience, there’s specific steps that you should take that is absolutely not required if this is more of a fun side project for you. Some pieces of the blog journey may also require investing some money which would be an unnecessary for certain types of goals.

Again, we don’t expect you to fully know the answers to both of these questions before you start. However, you should strive to understand your answers. Your opinion could change over time as well, and hopefully with our guides we can navigate you where you want to go!
